Kensington Oval
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, was redeveloped by World Cup Barbados in preparation for World Cup Cricket 2007. It was one of the venues for the Super Eight Matches and the World Cup Finals.
Tony Brooks Architects Ltd. was the project architect for all but one of the stands associated with this project. These included the Player’s Pavilion named in honour of national hero His Excellency Sir Garfield Sobers, the Hall and Griffith Stand, the Greenidge and Haynes Stand, the Mitchie Hewitt Stand and the Peter Short Media Centre. All stands were developed in sympathy with the concept proposals contained in the Bid Documents for the games.
